Hey Supergirl!

It’s almost time for the holidays, so you know what that means: no school and no homework!

It’s a great time to start new, healthy habits to carry into the New Year!

Staying active is a great way to have fun and keep busy during the holidays. When you exercise, your body produces endorphins, a chemical that makes you happy. So you’ll be able to keep smiling even when your Aunt gives you socks for the holidays…AGAIN.

Here are some of my favorite ways to stay active!

Seasonal sports: There are so many fun things to do when it’s cold out! If you live in a place where it snows, you can go sledding or skiing or even have a snowball fight. And if you live where the weather is warmer, find an ice skating rink near your town – they’re always around during the holiday season! Or just go for a walk or a run along the beach, a park or around your neighborhood and enjoy the holiday spirit.
Shop ‘til you drop: Shopping is a great way to stay active and you don’t even have to spend a dime! Walking around your mall or town during the busy holiday season (and maybe even buying a gift or two for loved ones) is exercise in itself – and you can take in the holiday cheer. People walk about three miles per hour on average, so a morning at the mall could have you walking up to nine miles!
Play with younger family members or neighbors: Little kids are super active! Especially after they’ve eaten all those holiday sweets. So get your younger relatives or friends to play with the big kids by offering to play tag or create fun relays. You’ll be doing the grownups a big favor – and you’ll be out of breath in no time!
Have a dance party: What better way to celebrate the holidays than by gettin’ the party started? Invite your friends for a sleep-over and have them bring a CD with their favorite songs. Then turn up the music and have fun!

Nastia Visits The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Hey Supergirl!

Hope everyone is having a great fall! Are any of you Harry Potter fans? I am!

When I was in Orlando this past summer as one of the Supergirl by Nastia launch stops, I was super excited when I had the chance to experience The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort. As soon as I saw the Hogwarts Express train at the entrance to the village of Hogsmeade, I felt like I was in the movie and knew I was in for more than I could have imagined!

First, I went to Ollivanders, where I got chills when I was chosen by the wand – it was very special and magical. After Ollivanders, I went to Hog’s Head pub to try the famous butterbeer, an amazing beverage that is just as delicious as it looks in the movies. I got some treats at Honeydukes Sweetshop, too – and just so you know, the Ear-wax flavored Bertie Bott’s bean is just as gross as you’d think!

My favorite part of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was definitely riding the thrilling new attraction, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. This ride takes you on a fantastical flight into Harry’s world – including being pulled into a Quidditch match and even attacked by a dragon. It was crazy exciting!

Do you guys have any fun plans for the Thanksgiving holiday? I can’t wait to go see “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” with my friends over the holiday.

Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin has already conquered the world of gymnastics, and the Olympics, and now she is taking on the world of fashion with her “Supergirl by Nastia” line.

“It’s definitely been a long process. But to be able to walk into a JCPenney and see my face and the clothes, the hang tags with my face on it, it’s incredible,” said Liukin.

Nastia Liukin recently wrapped up an action-packed summer tour introducing her new clothing line, Supergirl by Nastia in JCPenney stores across the U.S.

Hundreds of fans were at hand to greet Nastia, who was equally excited to host the events, “It was so much fun to interact with all of the girls!” Attendees were also treated to gymastic exhibitions, dance performances, tumbling classes, and fashion presentations of the fun new collection which includes active fleece, dresses and tunics, knit pants, signature Supergirl tees, dancewear, fashion leggings, shrug tops and more.

Nastia Honored As Lifetime Member of the Girl Scouts

Five-time Olympic medalist and ambassador of female empowerment Nastia Liukin took time off from promoting her new fashion line, Supergirl by Nastia, to be honored by the Girl Scouts of the USA at an investiture ceremony held at Planet Hollywood in New York City’s Times Square. Liukin was named an official lifetime member of the storied organization for girls.

An Olympic all-around champion and one of the most decorated American gymnasts in the history of the sport, Nastia Liukin believes that with hard work and commitment to a dream, anything is possible. Liukin embraces being a mentor and a positive role model to girls.

“I feel so privileged to be recognized by the Girl Scouts. The investiture ceremony is a time-honored tradition, which welcomes new girls into Scouting and I am thrilled that I can consider myself part of this wonderful group,” said Liukin.

“We are so pleased that Nastia joined the Girl Scouts. For the past 98 years, the Girl Scout Leadership Experience continues to empower girls to become leaders,” said Lalitha Sarma, Girl Scout Council of Greater New York.

As part of her ongoing commitment to female empowerment, Liukin recently teamed up with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and JCPenney for Supergirl by Nastia, a collection featuring trend-right, affordable apparel that encourages a message of empowerment, creativity, strength, intelligence and independence—the symbolic attributes and S-Shield of Supergirl, the iconic DC Comics super heroine. Created for today’s 4-12-year-old girls, the collection will be available exclusively at JCPenney – in stores and on jcp.com – beginning July 20, just in time for the back-to-school season.

“The Girl Scouts and I share the same message of female empowerment, which I look forward to spreading to girls and young women everywhere with Supergirl by Nastia,” added Liukin.

As part of the investiture ceremony, the Girl Scouts attending the special event received a Supergirl patch to be added to their regalia.

NYC Played Host to First Supergirl by Nastia Tour Stop

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP), on behalf of DC Comics, JCPenney and five-time Olympic Medalist and World Champion Nastia Liukin, joined forces in New York City on July 24th to debut an all new collection of clothing for girls called Supergirl by Nastia. The event is part of a five-market tour, visiting JCPenney stores around the country.

As part of the tour, Nastia is providing young girls motivational advice on achieving their goals, feeling confident and being smart, strong and empowered—being a Supergirl. Liukin also introduced the new fun, affordable lifestyle collection, which is available exclusively at JCPenney stores nationwide.

Liukin was on hand to host the action-packed, kick-off event at New York’s Greeley Square Park in front of JCPenney, which featured live gymnastic exhibitions, dance performances, fashion presentations and even onsite stretching and tumbling classes for young girls. Nastia also hosted a meet and greet for attendees and prizes were awarded to lucky winners throughout the event.

“The New York kick-off event was such an incredible way to introduce Supergirl by Nastia to young girls and help communicate a message of empowerment,” said Liukin. “It was so much fun to interact with all of the girls and I am thrilled to be able to continue hosting the remaining events all across the country!”

Following Saturday’s debut in New York City, the tour is set to make additional stops in Dallas, Texas; Chicago, Illinois; Los Angeles, California; and Orlando, Florida. Joining in all markets will be kids from JCPenney’s Afterschool Fund and other local community groups who will enjoy an empowering message from Nastia, as well as the opportunity for prizes, including a shopping spree for back-to-school clothes, courtesy of JCPenney.

The Supergirl by Nastia collection features trend-right, affordable apparel that encourages a message of empowerment, creativity, strength, intelligence and independence—the symbolic attributes and S-Shield of Supergirl, the iconic DC Comics super heroine. The collection, created for today’s 4-12-year-old girls, is now available exclusively at JCPenney , just in time for the back-to-school season.

The line retails from $20 – $38, making it affordable and exciting for girls to style themselves like a Supergirl. The collection includes active fleece, dresses and tunics, knit pants, signature Supergirl tees, dancewear, fashion leggings, shrug tops and more.
